SMILING FACES at Music for Misfits

What can I say about Westbury People's Gallery?  According to the website (https://www.westburypeoplesgallery.co.uk/):

We are an independent, community arts collective. We maintain a garden gallery in Cowley, Oxfordshire, UK, which serves as an outdoor venue for exhibitions, events and happenings.

It's so much more than the description though.  It's marvellous and I had a fabulous time playing Music for Misfits.   Encore, encore.

MUSIC FOR MISFITS at Westbury People's Gallery on Saturday 14th May at 3:30

I'm delighted to be performing for half an hour this Saturday at Malcolm Atkins' very excellent Westbury People's Gallery.

I'll be singing and playing the keyboard in a performance of songs and extracts from Roost Arcanum.

This special event is taking place as part of Art Weeks.

This music is dedicated to creative misfits everywhere.

CONTEXTS

...from the diaries of an unbalanced misfit...the sweetest refusal  I've ever received.

From Bath Fringe Festival:

"Karen, I am very sorry to take so long getting back to you.

I have been sitting on your submission, waiting to see how the exhibition was developing, before I made a final decision. It is now final, final decision time, and I am afraid I am going to say, no. It's not a question of quality or even taste, it's a question of a balance of elements.

You have a distinct voice, in all meanings of the phrase. I wish you success by keeping hold of your distinctiveness. "

The diva in me is shouting and stomping about....stomp stomp stomp.  Oddly, I had a strangely fitting dream recently.  There was I, in full diva mode, saying 'I must find my audience!'  All this done while stomping about.  Next, I was in a room filled with an audience and there I was about to do my show.  The thing is...I was there because there was a Karen shaped space for me as performer.  Their eyes were shining and so were mine.

It felt very different to my diva mode.

So...this is me...on the lookout for a Karen shaped space...where everything clicks and voilĂ  - there's an audience to delight, entertain and inspire.
