ORIGINS OF PLACES AND IDEAS

Oxford Real World Origins of Roost Places

1.     The abandoned Railway Station at the edge of town.

'This used to be a railway station, my family moved here in the late eighteen hundreds.   Set up home in some of the empty rooms... '

The original real abandoned station was near the Oxford Mini Plant.

It's been much talked about recently and there's a proposal to reopen the station.

Of course, the fantasy station is much bigger than this.   Imagine a large cavernous space with rooms off to the sides.

2.   The Market

'They used to sell horses, in the market.  Their flanks shining chestnut shining piebald.   All of that is gone now, but I'm still here.'

Gloucester Green as it was...

3.  Scientists who work at The Science Museum :'Once in a while, herds of scientists walk through the market.   A herd of grey suited minds.'

This is based on The History of Science Museum.

Look out for one of the museum's famous objects turning up in the show.
